Privacy policy

The short version
- The RvgeShot app collects nothing. No telemetry, no analytics, no account. Your screenshots and recordings stay on your computer.
- This website uses Google Analytics only if you click “Accept”, to count visits and downloads. No ads, and we never sell data.
- Downloads are served by GitHub. Donations, if you make one, are handled by the payment platform you pick.
1. The RvgeShot app
Everything RvgeShot creates — screenshots, recordings, the gallery
database, your settings and a local diagnostic log — is stored on
your own device (on Windows under
%APPDATA%\app.rvgeshot.desktop). The app sends no analytics,
telemetry or usage data anywhere. The diagnostic log only leaves your
computer if you decide to send it to us yourself.
Private share links (uploading a capture) are not available yet. Before that feature ships, this policy will be updated to explain exactly what is uploaded, where it is stored and for how long.
2. This website
Hosting
The site is hosted by Netlify, Inc. Like any web server, Netlify processes your IP address and basic request details (browser, time, page requested) to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
Fonts
The Inter typeface is served from this website itself. Your browser does not contact Google Fonts or any other font provider.
Analytics — only with your consent
If you click Accept on the cookie banner, we load Google
Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited. It sets first-party
cookies (_ga, _ga_<ID>) and records the
pages you view, your approximate location (country and city), device and
browser type, the site that referred you, and events such as clicking a
download button, starting a download or opening an FAQ question. Google
Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Google’s
advertising features and ad personalisation are switched off.
We use this only to understand how many people find and download RvgeShot, and which parts of the site help. Analytics data is kept for at most 14 months. Google may process it in the United States; such transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). If you click Decline, Google Analytics is not loaded at all and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; withdrawing consent stops analytics and deletes its cookies.
Your choice is remembered
We store your cookie choice in your browser’s local storage
(rvge-consent) so we don’t ask on every visit. It
never leaves your browser.
3. Downloads
Installers are hosted on GitHub Releases (GitHub, Inc.). When you download RvgeShot, GitHub processes your IP address under its own privacy statement. We only see a total download count.
4. Donations
If you choose to support RvgeShot, the payment is handled entirely by the platform you select (for example Ko-fi, GitHub Sponsors or PayPal). We never see your card or bank details. Depending on the platform, we may receive your name, email address and any message you leave, which we use only to say thank you and handle the donation.
5. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data about you, object to its processing, or withdraw consent. Because we don’t run accounts and analytics data is pseudonymous, there is usually very little we can link to you. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority — in Croatia, the Personal Data Protection Agency (AZOP), or the authority where you live.
